Liverpool's Elliott heads to LaLiga with season-long Valencia move

Elliott arrived at Liverpool from Fulham in 2019, initially working his way through the youth setup before taking a loan spell at Blackburn Rovers, where he enjoyed a strong Championship campaign with 7 goals and 11 assists.

He returned to Anfield, broke into the senior picture and eventually went on to make 149 appearances for the club, scoring 15 goals and playing his part in 2 Premier League title wins.

So this is not a player with nothing behind him. But the last stretch has clearly been messier. After losing his regular place, Elliott spent last season on loan at Aston Villa, only to find minutes hard to come by there too. Reports suggested Villa were cautious about using him too much because they did not want to trigger the buy clause attached to the agreement.

At 23, it already feels like an important move for him.

Instead of relaunching his career, the loan just left him more stuck than before, and now Valencia are offering a cleaner reset.

Liverpool's official message was brief.

 "We all wish Harvey the best of luck during his spell with Valencia," the club said on their website.

Right now, Liverpool do not have a clear place for him, and Elliott needs football more than he needs another year hanging around the edges of a big squad.

Valencia could be a useful fit. LaLiga may give him a different rhythm, a little more space to play and a setting where his technical quality can come to the front again if he gets continuity. That is the real target now, not hype, just minutes, trust and a run of games.

Because the ability has never really been in doubt. The problem has been finding the right place and right moment to let it breathe again.
