Ligue 1
Ligue 1 is France's top-flight football competition, featuring 18 clubs competing for the title, European qualification and Ligue 1 survival. Paris Saint-Germain are the current Ligue 1 champions, after winning the 2025/26 title for the 14th time in their history. PSG enter the new campaign as the defending champions, while RC Lens finished second and will face PSG in the 2026 Trophée des Champions.
What's new in Ligue 1 2026/27?
Troyes and Le Mans have joined Ligue 1 after earning promotion from Ligue 2, replacing relegated sides Nantes and Metz. Troyes return to the top flight after three seasons away, while Le Mans are back in Ligue 1 for the first time since the 2009/10 season.
The new season also brings a major change on the touchline, with 12 of the 18 clubs appointing new head coaches during the summer. Olympique de Marseille have started a new era under Bruno Genesio, while several other established Ligue 1 sides have also changed their coaching staff ahead of the campaign.
The summer transfer window has already produced several notable moves. PSG brought Lucas Digne back to the club from Aston Villa on a three-year contract, while Monaco have strengthened with the permanent signing of Ansu Fati and the arrival of Mathys Detourbet on loan from Manchester City. Paris FC have also added Pablo Pagis from Lorient as they prepare for their second consecutive Ligue 1 campaign.
