Brighton sign Nigeria winger Femi Azeez in exciting move from Millwall

Both clubs finished their deal sheets before the 11 p.m. Deadline on Monday. They then used the extension period to complete everything before 1 a.m. On Tuesday.

Brighton really wanted this one done

The 2025‑26 season was an one for the winger. The winger played a role in Millwalls push to the play‑offs. The winger earned a place in both the PFA and EFL Championship Teams of the Season.

Across 77 appearances for Millwall Azeez scored 15 goals. Produced 13 assists. Those numbers mark Azeez as a player for a bigger platform.

Brightons sporting director Mike Cave spoke in a way that shows Brighton believes the club has landed something

“We are delighted to add Femi to the squad " Cave said. "Femi arrives after a season with Millwall playing a key role in helping Millwall reach the play‑offs. Femi is one of the promising attacking talents in the Championship. We are very pleased to have reached an agreement for the transfer. We are looking forward to working with Femi.”

Femi is not a depth option. Femi is a winger with upside who can be developed further inside Brightons system.

Azeez has taken a conventional route than many top‑flight arrivals.

Azeez started out in Watfords youth ranks. Azeez then dropped into non‑league football with Northwood. Azeez moved through Wealdstone and Hanwell Town before joining Reading in 2019. Millwall signed Azeez in 2024. From there Azeezs profile really took off.

On the stage Azeez has made a quick impression. Azeez scored twice on his Nigeria debut in a 2‑0 win over Zimbabwe. Azeez added an assist four days later in a 3‑0 victory over Jamaica.

That kind of start only adds to Azeezs sense of momentum.

If there are no fitness issues Azeez could be available when Brighton host Leeds United on Sunday. With Conference League football, on the schedule this season there should be enough games for Azeez to start making his case quickly.
