Como hit four in Genoa as Diao and Paz lead statement away victory
Como moved to the top of Serie A after an impressive 4-1 win away at Genoa, extending their unbeaten start to 3 matches and leaving the home side still waiting for their first point of the season.

After winning at Napoli in their previous away match, Como arrived in Genoa full of confidence and immediately looked dangerous from distance. Justin Bijlow had to push Yan Couto’s curling effort over the bar before making another strong save from Nico Paz’s powerful strike.
Genoa weathered that early pressure and then struck first just before the 20-minute mark. Lorenzo Colombo raced onto a long ball down the left before pulling it back for Milutin Osmajic, who finished to score his first Serie A goal.
Martin Baturina levelled the game with a low right-footed finish from range, finding the bottom corner and quickly wiping out Genoa’s lead. Bijlow had no chance with that effort, but he then made a costly error for Como’s second.
Assane Diao’s fierce volley somehow found its way through the Genoa defence and beyond the goalkeeper, sending Fabregas into celebrations on the touchline.
Soon after, Paz burst in behind the back line and drilled a right-footed finish into the near corner to give the visitors a comfortable 3-1 lead before half-time.
The second half was calmer. With their Champions League debut against RB Leipzig coming on Thursday, Como understandably lowered the tempo, but they still created enough chances to make the scoreline even bigger.
Tasos Douvikas headed over at the near post, while Paz struck the post with another powerful effort as Genoa struggled to contain them.
The fourth goal finally arrived in the 78th minute. Substitute Moise Kean marked his debut with an assist, drawing several Genoa defenders toward him before finding Diao, who finished neatly into the bottom-right corner.
It completed Diao’s first Serie A double since April 2025 and capped a dominant away performance.
Como end the day top of the table, unbeaten after 3 matches and looking full of belief ahead of their first Champions League match. Genoa, meanwhile, are bottom after 3 straight defeats and already face a difficult task to lift the mood around the club.
