Ferran Torres scores 2 on debut as PSG rally from 2 down to draw with Rennes
Ferran Torres came off the bench and scored twice on his Paris Saint-Germain debut to rescue a dramatic 2-2 draw against Rennes in the opening game of the new Ligue 1 season.
It was a comeback from Luis Enriques side but it also showed that PSG can still struggle when opponents attack them with real energy right from the start.

Because the pitch at Parc des Princes was damaged the match had to move to Roazhon Park. Franck Haises side used the home feeling in Brittany to their advantage. Started the game with a massive burst of energy.

Adrien Thomasson passed the ball to Sebastian Szymanski near the edge of the box. Then the Poland midfielder hit a shot past Matvey Safonov to put Rennes ahead.
PSG did not stay worried for long. They thought they had tied the game in the minute but the goal by Desire Doue was taken away because of offside. PSG kept trying for the rest of the half. Ousmane Dembele almost scored from close up but Rennes managed to strike again first.
In the minute Esteban Lepaul made it 2-0. The forward hit a first-time shot into the bottom corner after Przemyslaw Frankowski cut the ball back. This punished PSG again. Left the champions looking very bad on their opening night.
Luis Enriques team tried to get into the game before the break. Joao Neves took a shot from 12 yards. The Rennes goalkeeper, Brice Samba stayed strong. Brice Samba made sure the home side went into time with a 2-goal lead.
Luis Enrique brought on two players, Ferran Torres and Mika Godts at half-time. PSG almost scored after the restart. Samba stopped shots from both Doue and Warren Zaire-Emery as the pressure grew.

PSG have won 9 of their 11 Ligue 1 openers so nobody expected PSG to just give up. Finally in the minute the comeback started. Fabian Ruiz sent a pass to Ferran and the Spaniard finished it calmly to make it 2-1.
Doue almost tied the game five minutes later with a shot that went just over but Rennes could not stop the momentum. Ferran scored again this time with a header from another pass by Fabian Ruiz. It was a debut for Ferran and brought PSG level.
After that PSG went searching for the winning goal. However Rennes held their ground toward the end. Rennes earned a point that felt fair even if they are sad, about losing a 2-goal lead.
For PSG it was a job to save the game. For Ferran it was a way to start his time with the team.
