10-man Lens stun PSG to win French Super Cup in Toppmoeller's first game

Florian Thauvin scored a goal in the half of the game at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis. This goal was enough for Lens to win. Lens played well. Did not let PSG score. PSG had won a trophy a days before. They had beaten Aston Villa in the UEFA Super Cup on Wednesday.

That makes this a statement win straight away for Dino Toppmoeller.

It is hard to take charge of a team. It is even harder when you have to play against a team like PSG. Lens had to play with ten men for most of the game. They still managed to win.

Luis Enrique chose a team for PSG. He made a few changes from the team that won the previous game. Lucas Digne played again after coming from Villa. Bradley Barcola was not in the team. He is being linked to Liverpool.

PSG had the ball most of the time at the start of the game. They could not score though. Robin Risser, the Lens goalkeeper made a save from a shot by Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. Lens started to play and scored a goal in the 32nd minute. Matthieu Udol passed the ball to Florian Thauvin. Florian Thauvin scored from range.

Six minutes before time Kyllian Antonio from Lens was sent off. He had made a tackle on Maghnes Akliouche. PSG had one player on the field now. They had plenty of time to score. Desire Doue from PSG hit the bar with a shot before time.

In the half PSG did not play well. Lens still looked dangerous when they counter attacked. Florian Thauvin shot wide during one of these attacks. Luis Enrique sent in players to try and change the game. Nuno Mendes shot from away but missed. Ousmane Dembele was sent in. He made the Lens goalkeeper make a save.

With three minutes left Nuno Mendes from PSG was sent off. He had elbowed Michal Skoras from Lens in the face. PSG had ten men now.

Lens won the game because they played well and did not give up. PSG did not play well. Made mistakes. This was a win, for Lens.
