Dortmund complete stunning comeback as Hoffenheim collapse from 2 goals ahead
Borussia Dortmund produced a remarkable comeback to beat Hoffenheim 3-2 away from home, overturning a 2-goal deficit and extending the hosts’ miserable record against Die Borussen.
The result was brutal for Hoffenheim. Hoffenheim dominated much of the game led 2‑0 early in the half and looked on course to respond strongly after their opening‑week defeat to FC Koln. Instead Hoffenheim conceded three times in the half‑hour and ended with a second straight 3‑2 defeat even though Hoffenheim had been ahead in both matches.

Dortmund struggled to settle. Adam Hlozek created the real danger when he found space just outside the box and he dragged a powerful half‑volley narrowly wide of the near post.
The best chance of the opening half arrived before the half‑hour mark. Tim Lemperle beat the Dortmund defence with a back‑heel releasing Adam Daghim down the left. Adam Daghim’s low effort was heading for the corner but Gregor Kobel produced an excellent save to turn it away.
Niko Kovac was already forced into a change after Filippo Mane picked up an injury and Dortmund continued to look vulnerable.
Hoffenheim eventually got the reward their pressure deserved before half‑time. Leon Avdullahu stepped up from 25 metres. Bent a superb strike into the net giving the hosts a deserved lead.
In the minute Hoffenheim doubled their advantage. Lemperle showed determination to win the ball from Joane Gadou deep in Dortmund territory raced through one‑on‑one and saw his effort deflect over Kobel and into the net.
At 2‑0 Dortmund looked finished.. The match turned completely in the space of a few minutes.
Waldemar Anton began the comeback by winning the ball high up the pitch before setting up Serhou Guirassy. Serhou Guirassy produced a finish to pull one back.
Guirassy then became the provider. He found substitute Fabio Silva, whose brilliant finish from an angle levelled the match and stunned the home crowd. Suddenly all of Hoffenheim’s control had disappeared.
Both teams pushed for a winner in a closing spell but Dortmund completed the turnaround with only three minutes left.
Deadline‑day signing Ethan Nwaneri drove powerfully forward before firing a low ball across the face of goal. Albian Hajdari could only turn it into his net sealing an extraordinary 3‑2 victory for the visitors.
Dortmund now sit level at the top after two wins from two while Hoffenheim have been left to reflect on a frustrating start, to the season.
