CONCACAF Champions Cup
The Concacaf Champions Cup is the premier men's club football competition in North America, Central America and the Caribbean, bringing together leading clubs from across the region to compete for the continental title. The 2026 edition is the 61st season of the competition, with 27 clubs competing in a direct-elimination format. Cruz Azul entered the tournament as the defending champions after winning their record-equalling seventh title in 2025.
What's new in Concacaf Champions Cup 2026?
The 2026 competition continues with a 27-team knockout format consisting of five rounds: Round One, Round of 16, quarter-finals, semi-finals and the final. Twenty-two clubs begin in Round One, while five teams receive a bye directly into the Round of 16 based on their success in regional and domestic competitions.
Unlike league competitions, the Concacaf Champions Cup does not have a group stage. Round One, the Round of 16, quarter-finals and semi-finals are all played over two legs, with the team winning on aggregate advancing to the next round. The final is the only single-match stage of the tournament.
The 2026 campaign began in February, with the Round of 16 taking place in March, followed by the quarter-finals in April and semi-finals in late April and early May. The tournament concludes with a single-leg final on May 30, 2026. The winner earns qualification for the FIFA Intercontinental Cup and the 2029 FIFA Club World Cup.
